Maharaja Swati Tirunal’s Kamalajasya is a classic composition, describing the ten Avatara-s of Lord Vishnu. Each Avatara is described in just four lines, i.e. two Avartanam-s. Since the music was composed by the Maharaja himself, the original ragas have been maintained in this recording.
This rich Ragamalika has a raga for each Avatara. The 10 major ragas have Chittaswara passages in each of the verses, ending with a half avartanam durita kala swara, in a set pattern of the first raga, Mohanam, to return to the first line of the Pallavi.

3. Varahavatara – Dhanyasi
4. Narasimhavatara – Saranga
5. Vamanavatara – Madhyamavati

7. Sri Ramavatara – Natakurinji
8. Balaramavatara – Darbari
9. Sri Krishnavatara – Anandabhairavi
10. Kalki – Saurashtram
