Guru Smt. Rajee Narayan is a rare combination of Bharatanatyam guru, musician, composer and choreographer, with the unique distinction of teaching not only Bharatanatyam, but also Carnatic Music, Natyasastra and Nattuvangam. She established her institution, Nritya Geethanjali in Mumbai in 1965. She has served as board member of the University of Mumbai, for over two decades and as the external examiner for the Bachelors and Masters degrees in the Fine Arts courses (BFA and MFA) and examiner of thesis for Ph.D.

Articulate and eloquent, Guru Rajee is widely acknowledged as one of the very few women Vageyyakara of our times; one who can write lyrics, compose music and sing the songs. The Government of Maharashtra has honoured her with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Rajya Sanskrutik Puraskar for Dance.
