Born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Anita has been learning Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music from the age of five. She did her Arangetram in 1996, in Mumbai and since then has performed extensively in Jeddah and India. She has also been learning Carnatic music from Guru Rajee and has participated in several dance and music competitions, organised by the Kerala Kala Sahidi, a cultural organisation in Jeddah, winning the first prize in 1997.

Anita performed solo for the Natyotsav at the Music Academy, Chennai, in August, 1997. She did a solo recital at the Triveni Auditorium, under the aegis of Nritya Geethanjali, New Delhi, in March, 1999.

Anita produced her own music album, Pathittadi Poovukal in July, 1999, comprising 8 songs. She has been singing at different occasions, organised by various organisations in Jeddah, viz. IFA, Kairali, India Forum, Kala Sahidi, Indian Cultural Association, the Golden Jubilee Celebrations, Eid Milan and others.

She continues to learn, practice and perform Bharatanatyam, during her visits to India.
