Of all the many things I’ve done in these 14 years, I would have never thought that some day, I would have actually complete my arangetram and I would be able to write this article, like the other ‘big girls’ in my dance class !

The truth is that I probably may have never joined Bharatanatyam classes, if it had not been for my mother and of course, Aunty ! I’m so glad that I dragged myself out of bed on Sunday mornings, even if it meant getting a million shoutings ! If not for them, I would have never been able to perform the way I did on my Arangetram.

It would always be more terrifying, if Aunty did not scold me during practice sessions because I would think that I would be unable to perform to the best of my abilities. What was most difficult was to juggle such intense practice, alongwith studies and basketball, because I was not allowed to miss a single class. Aunty was very clear about that ! She would always crack a joke or two, while we took a break… this did relax me somewhat. Aunty is such a perfect blend of seriousness and fun !

Dance has become a very important part of my life, so early in life and I cannot imagine it being so, if it were not for Aunty. I will always remain her most naughty, but ever-trying disciple !
