Ragini Chandrashekar

Ragini ChandrashekarRagini Chandrashekar, (nee Sambasivan) has been learning Bharatanatyam from Guru Rajee since the age of six. She performed her Arangetram in 1995 and has given several performances in Mumbai and Chennai. She has participated in a number of group programmes of her institution.

She started her dancing attributes in 1986 at Nehru Centre, on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of Nritya Geethanjali. In December 1993, she performed in a dance drama, Mahakavi Bharati, at the Tata Theatre. In August 1997, she performed at the Music Academy Mini Hall, Chennai for the Natyanjali Trust.

Effortless ease and exquisite grace’ aptly describes her performances. ‘Ragini’s expressive images reflecting quick changing moods, neck and eye movements, abhinaya and quick footwork revealed her full command over the art of expressions.’

In January 2000, she performed in a group ensemble of Bharatanatyam, at Vani Mahal, Chennai and in a dance drama, Sri Jagat Rakshakan. Her other performances have enthralled audiences in Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts, Mumbai, Madras Kali Bari Temple, Sri Tyaga Brahmna Gana Sabha, Chennai, Mylapore Fine Arts, Chennai, Taj Residency- Taj Group of Hotels, Mumbai. Along with other seniors, she performed on Doordarshan on the occasion of Ramnavami in 1999.

Ragini has won accolades in dance at various levels in her institution, school and college. She also has passed her exams in nattuvangam. She assists her Guru in conducting the dance classes at SIES School. She is a student of Electronics Engineering and good at drawing and sports. She represents her college in indoor and outdoor games like chess, badminton and throw ball.

She has won several medals and certificates for group and solo participation in sports. She is the charter member of Rotaract Club of Bombay, Sion and currently holds the position of administrative director.
